Summer 2008 fun with theatre camp
Camps run Monday through Friday from 9 to 4 at the Port Dalhousie Legion, with rehearsals through the week at The Port Mansion and the presentation of our musical shows on the Sat. Of each week….. 2:00 at the Port Mansion.
Our camp runs much like a small theatre company and requires a certain amount of commitment. As our shows are all musicals, the kids will be expected to learn songs and lines in a short few days, as well as help with props, costume pieces, and be available for the performance on Saturday.
Children will learn the fundamentals of acting, character creation, stage presence, voice, theatre etiquette, props, costumes and more.
Our productions are original stories created by the Artistic Director with the help of the campers.
- Enrolment capacity per week is 15 campers
- Camp rate is $165 per week (includes tax)
- There is a $10 discount for registering more than one week or child.
A Note From The Artistic Director
Wendy Mackie, Granny M ProductionsI am so pleased to have the opportunity to run our camp for another year. The past four summers have been so much fun, and I have worked with some very talented young people.
Probably the most successful week ever was last year's Science Fiction Double Feature show, and because of requests from fans, it has returned for this summer.
This camp's mandate is to teach children about live musical theatre in a relaxed atmosphere aiding them in building self-confidence and creating fond memories of their summer of 2008.
All sessions are open to ages 6 to 14 simply because I love to mix the different ages, and it works very well. For those of you who don't know me, I have several years of experience on stage, backstage, directing, theatre management, and child care (YMCA).
As well as Fun With Theatre Camps, Granny M Productions has produced entertainment for children since the mid-90's with dress up tea parties (Tea Granny's) and fundraising shows at Halloween (Witches Brew Ha Ha) at the beautiful theatre in Port Mansion.
For any further information and registration forms please contact Wendy Mackie at home (905) 934-3634 or Port Mansion (905) 934-0575 ext. 226 or via grannym@portmansion.com.
